Fortune telling and magic in the culture of circassians.
Fortune telling was done by shoulder-blade
of goat or sheep. People could tell the weather, misfortunes,
happyness, wars. There is a story, passed on by circassians
regarding this method of fortune telling
Judicial structure of Shabsougs and Natuhay
society
Shapsougs and Natuhais did
not have permanent courts or judges.
Judges (Tarkohas) are assigned with the
mutual agreement of both parties. The number of judges can change
depending on the difficulty of the case.
Criminal
and Civil Law of Shabsougs and Natuhay
Since prison sentences were
not practiced among Circassians, all the harm had to be repaid in
fines or by death.
Circassians did not have a monetary system, therefore the size of a
fine was defined by standart values accepted since ancient times.
These were: toop, tsu, sxa.
Selebration ceremonies of
pagant tribes.
Circassian
pagants never erected temples to practice their religious
ceremonies. Instead, they were assigning a status of the sacred area
to forest groves where they also kept their holy artifacts.
Pagant gods of Abadzekh, Shabsougs and Natuhay
Sozeris,
the god of the harvest. The
event was celebrated by special prayers at the end of December (as
Christmas). Trees with seven branches were brought into a house.
Branches were decorated with yellow candles, halivas and pieces of
cheese. The tree was called Gamshhut.
For coastal tribes, Sozeris was also a
god of a sea. There is a legend that he crossed Black Sea by walking
on its surface and came back the same way.
Short description of 12 Circassian tribes:
Abadzeh - Besleney -
Bzhedugh - Yegerukay - Zhaney - Kabarday - Memheg - Natuhay -
Temirgoy - Ubyh - Shapsugh - Hatukay...
